Film and fashion has a long history together: the screen has functioned as a fashion spread – and as a shopping window – and film has used fashion and representations of fashionable lifestyles to attract its audiences. Since the early 1920. the world of fashion has been a recurrent set for both romantic comedies, dramas and thrillers, from Alfred E. Green’s silent film Iréne to Fabienne Berthauds Frankie. In collaboration with Cinemateket in Stockholm, a few colleagues from the Centre for Fashion Studies has put together a series on fashion and film including five films to be screened in Bio Victor at Filmhuset in Stockholm this Fall.
The programme begins on October 5th and ends on November 21st.
