Fashion Interactions is a multidisciplinary exhibition that explores the fashion culture by means of contemporary art. The exhibited artworks comment on the unsustainability of textile industry, investigate how people use clothing as a tool for building their identities, and analyze the relationship of fashion and corporeality.
Fashion Interactions is an edited version of the exhibition Boutique – Where Art Meets Fashion (2012) for which the artworks were created through collaborative acts by artist-designer teams. Boutique, curated by Annamari Vänskä, was first presented at the Amos Anderson Museum in Helsinki in 2012, as part of the programs of World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 and the Helsinki Festival.

Symposium in conjunction with the exhibition
On Saturday, 16th November 2013 (10 am - 5pm) a symposium will be held at the David Schwartz Fashion Education Center at Parsons the New School for Design in New York. Fashion Curating Now will be organized in conjunction with the multidisciplinary exhibition Fashion Interactions, which deals with fashion culture by means of contemporary art.
The symposium Fashion Curating Now is a daylong symposium focusing on the possibilities and challenges of contemporary fashion curating on a global scale.
The invited professionals reflect on the theme through an individual presentation and in discussions with peers and the audience. Critical points of view are stressed, as is contemplation of fashion’s kinship with art, design and industry.

Fashion Interactions and Fashion Curating Now is realized in collaboration with Parsons the New School for Design (New York), Finnish Cultural Institute in New York and the Centre for Fashion Studies (Stockholm University).
